Blacksmiths or "Lohaar" are the back bone of farming in the valley. Their role is to produce and repair farming tools to support farmers in their day to day activities. At present the majority of the key farming equipments in the Valley are entirely produced by the local blacksmiths.
This process involves softening of a piece of metal in the furnace and skilfully forming it into a required tool by using mallet while it is still hot and soft. It is a very laborious and hazardous job which requires a lots of experience, patience and physical stamina.
